Privacy policy

Some things should stay private.

We agree. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and how you stay in control.

Last updated November 1, 2026

The short version

  • We collect as little as we can.
  • We never sell your information, and we never share it with your employer.
  • Your visits in the Over There App are private unless you choose to share them.
  • You can delete your account and every visit you've logged at any time, instantly.

What we collect

The Over There App

When you create an account we store the display name you choose and a securely hashed version of your 4-digit PIN. We never store your PIN itself. When you log a visit, we store whether it happened at work or at home, how many minutes it lasted, and when you logged it. If you enter an hourly rate, we store that too, so we can calculate your earnings. Only you can see your hourly rate.

We do not collect your email address, phone number, employer, or location. We have no idea where you work, and we'd like to keep it that way.

Forms and newsletters

If you take the Pledge, subscribe to The Weekly Movement, register a chapter, or contact us, we collect the information you provide in that form, such as your name and email address.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in to the Over There App. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of that request.

How we use it

We use your information to run the Over There App, calculate your impact, send the communications you've asked for, and process donations. We may use aggregated, anonymized data — for example, total minutes reclaimed across all advocates — in our research and reports. Aggregated data never identifies you.

What others can see

By default, nothing. If you turn on “Show my visits in Community,” other advocates can see your display name, the length of each new visit, whether it was at work or at home, and roughly when it happened. You can turn this off at any time from the Me tab.

Your choices

  • Delete your account: in the app, go to Me → Delete my account. Your name, PIN, and all visits are removed immediately.
  • Unsubscribe: every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Ask us anything: write to [email protected].

Security

PINs are hashed with a modern, salted algorithm, sign-in attempts are rate-limited, and our site is served over an encrypted connection. Please choose a PIN that isn't 1234. We can see how many of you have.

Children

Our services are intended for working adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and let app users know on their next visit.
